The NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award recognizes a young

 
researcher's dual commitment to research and education, which is the NSF's
most prestigious award for young faculty.
 
Dr. Li joined the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering as an
assistant professor in September, 2006. He received his Ph.D. degree in Applied
Mathematics from Harvard University in June, 2006. Dr. Li will investigate a
new class of control problems arising from emerging physical and biological
applications. He will develop new control techniques to study controllability
and optimal control of these problems.
