The NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award recognizes a young researcher's dual commitment to research and education, which is the NSF's most prestigious award for young faculty. Dr. Li joined the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering as an assistant professor in September, 2006. He received his Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University in June, 2006. Dr. Li will investigate a new class of control problems arising from emerging physical and biological applications. He will develop new control techniques to study controllability and optimal control of these problems.
