ESE 230 Introduction To Electronic Circuits

The Bryan 306 Laboratory supports the introductory course for Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering students:ESE230 "Introduction to Electrical & Electronic Circuits."  This exciting new course has associated with it an integrated laboratory component exploring topics ranging from electrical measurements and electronic instrumentation to gearmotors and hybrid-electric vehicles as
well as emphasis on biomedical applications.  Students build and test electronic circuits involving operational amplifiers and audio speakers.
They make measurements on time scales as small as one-billionth of a second.  (Light travels only about 12 inches in one-billionth of a second!)

In the laboratory experiment involving audio speakers, students get to apply different kinds of electrical signals to their circuits and hear with their own ears what sounds the audio speakers make.  They learn about musical notes and use frequency-selective circuits to create harmonies with other teams of students.

The course finishes with a capstone project consisting of the building and testing of an optically controlled robot, and students get to take their robot projects home.
