ESE 488 Signals And Systems Laboratory
This laboratory reinforces theoretical concepts that were studied in the linear systems, communication theory and digital signal processing courses. Lab exercises include: Testing students' hearing for signal to noise ratio acuity, simulation of a deep space telemetry communication
system, design of a modern "noise-shaping" analog to digital converter and a final project exploring various interesting signal processing applications. All laboratory exercises are conducted using the innovative LabVIEW programming system to generate signals and noise, implement signal processing algorithms with student created "virtual instruments", and verify system performance relative to theoretical predictions. This course drives home the theoretical concepts covered in our communication theory and digital signal processing courses.
