    The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) is the US Air Force premier graduate school. The Excellence in Engineering & Science Summer Internship is a summer program that hosts students from undergraduate institutions throughout the United States. The program allows students to develop scientific and engineering independence and self-confidence through participation in actual research projects in a graduate educational environment.

    Program for students majoring in science, mathematics and engineering. Note that applications for participation in the SURF program are only accepted from colleges or universities, and not from individual students.

  • SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE FUNDING(NSFSTC)  
    The NSF Science & Technology Centers (STCs) Undergraduate Research Experience is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in a cutting edge field. There are 17 STCs, located at prestigious universities around the United States. Each center has a specific research focus, but as a whole, our programs focus on such fields as the biological sciences, computer and information sciences, engineering, geosciences, and mathematical and physical sciences.

    The prevailing goal of the SMART program is to provide the United States with talented, trained American men and women who will lead state-of-the-art research projects in disciplines having the greatest payoff to national defense requirements. The SMART Program is highly competitive and confers high honors upon its recipients.

  • NASA AERONAUTICS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 
    The NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program which is administered by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) is officially accepting applications for the 2010 Aeronautics Scholarship Program. It is expected that approximately 20 two-year undergraduate, and 5 two-year with an option of a third year graduate scholarships will be awarded annually to students pursuing aeronautical engineering and related fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics and Mathematics. Total allocated award amounts are up to $40,000 for undergraduates and up to $125,000 for graduates. These funds will go towards tuition and related costs, as well as to provide paid summer internship opportunities at a NASA research center.

  • FAA SUMMER PROGRAM
    Selected undegraduate students have the opportunity to intern during summer 2008 with the FAA in Kansas City (MO) and various location around the US. applicants must be US citizens and able to receive a favorable background investigation. Students must receive approval from their campus liaison to participate in this program (the campus liaison is Jennie Lowery Marchal, marchal@wustl.edu) .   • EPA GREATER RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES (GRO) FELLOWSHIPS
    The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as part of its Greater Research Opportunities (GRO) program, is offering Greater Research Opportunities (GRO) undergraduate fellowships for bachelor level students in environmental fields of study. The deadline for receipt of paper applications is December 10, 2009 at 4:00 PM and December 10, 2009 at 11:59:59 PM ET for submittal of electronic applications to Grants.gov.

Knowledge of German is NOT required, and the grants are designed to cover living expenses (maximum of 650 euros per month) but not international airfare. Deadline: January 31, 2009
